This is a very large chandelier yet not that heavy when considering the size. The instructions were poorly written on a small single piece of paper with a tiny diagram. The bottom rung of lights all need to be manually installed and wired. The top 2 rungs come assembled with the exception of the glass. The most difficult part was wiring the bottom rung. There was minimal slack in the wire extending down to the bottom can and it was not pre-stripped (probably a mistake in manufacturing). There was also very little room to get all the wires in the bottom container. You have to wire groups together with a couple of short splicing wires to get them all attached to the home runs. It also takes a little planning so they can be folded into the lower can. It is very large so at times the size was awkward. I am fairly handy and have done some wiring before so overall, I found the assembly tedious but not overly difficult (about 3 hours late at night taking my time). It was not too heavy to get up to the ceiling with one other person helping from below.

Warning. There are a lot of lights on this thing and despite putting 40watt florescent bulbs in, it shoots out a lot of light. I will probably replace the bulbs with incandescent (maybe even 25watts) and hook up a dimmer.

Up close, the glass is kind of cheep looking with a paint-like finish. At a distance, the glass looks great. With the lights off the glass is somewhat orange/tan. The color changes dramatically with the lights on depending on which bulb you have in. With warm the florescent lights the glass is golden with the cooler,brighter bulbs, they are much whiter. I like the whiter glass but not the bright bluish light that shoots up on the ceiling.

Conclusion: If your not handy or have never wired anything before, get help with this. Otherwise nice piece for the price.
