LARSON MID-VIEW STORM DOOR - 37081031 Review

I bought one of these "ScreenAway" doors from my local Menards store and installed it myself. I'd never installed a storm door (or any door, for that matter), but the instructions were fairly straight forward and I was able to get the job done in an afternoon. However, doing this yourself is not for anyone who isn't handy, or doesn't have a wide variety of tools.

The door itself is sturdy and seems to seal out the elements reasonably well. It's not totally waterproof, though, so if you live in the country and get a very hard rain with a lot of wind, you might see some water between the two doors. The screen is pretty handy - by far the easiest to open and close of any I've ever seen.

My only complaint is the door closers. They are pneumatic, which means they're worthless when the temperature drops below 60 degrees. It was almost amazing how hard the storm door would slam shut in the fall, winter and spring. The door closers are adjustable, but it didn't matter how much resistance they were set for, the door would still slam shut. I finally bought a hydraulic door closer from Home Depot, and now I have a storm door that doesn't anger me every time I use it.

I'd give it 5 stars with decent closers, but Larson really cheapened the experience by cutting corners on the closers.
